City corrects misinformation about late Codeta leader

The City of Cape Town has noted reports by some media houses that the late Mr Mzoxolo Cecil Dibela was to sign the N2 Express operating contract on behalf of the Congress of Democratic Taxi Associations (Codeta). This is not true. Read more below:
Mr Dibela, a longstanding leader from Codeta, was allegedly assassinated earlier this week. The South African Police Service is investigating this crime and the motives for the alleged hit.
The City can confirm that the operating contract for the N2 Express service was to be signed this week by the directors of the N2 Company.
The City wants to make it very clear that although Mr Dibela was involved in the negotiations with the stakeholders, he was not a signatory to this contract.
‘We once again extend our heartfelt sympathies and condolences to Mr Dibela’s family, friends, and colleagues in the minibus-taxi industry.
‘I also want to add that the City and stakeholders are working hard to get the N2 Express service back on the road. I will keep the public informed on our progress,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Transport, Councillor Quintas.
